About This Course:
Understanding agency is foundational to every real estate transaction. In this course, we’ll break down the legal relationship between licensees and the parties they work with — including who you represent, what you owe them, and how those relationships are created and defined under Rhode Island law.
Topics covered include the history and law of agency, key definitions, types of agency relationships, and the six fiduciary duties every agent owes their client: Care, Obedience, Loyalty, Disclosure, Accounting, and Confidentiality. We’ll also explore the difference between clients and customers, how to avoid common pitfalls like implied agency, and important RI-specific disclosures and forms you’ll use in practice.
